Personal project based on the dark side of the fashion industry. Fast fashion has been clearly a major vessel for the 300 billion dollars industry - only in 2018 - to be considered the second main polluter in the planet. Aside from the whole fashion system itself, we seem to have lost our rationale and standards as a consumer. “The world now consumes about 80 billion new pieces of clothing every year. This is 400% more than the amount we consumed just two decades ago”, says Livia Firth.
For this project, I was able to gather more than 40kg used clothing from relatives, which was then given to a Portuguese charity organization called ‘Cruz Vermelha’. Let’s make a change. It starts with us, consumers.
